*throws confetti*

So, in case anyone did not see or figure out the reference in my last post, my brother is engaged!!!! Engaged to be married, that is :-). We're all extremely happy over here! Stephanie relates the proposal story over on her Xanga, for those interested, and she posted a picture of them :-D. I get to have a sister-in-law! And a very sweet one at that :). Hannah and I helped Ben pick out the ring while he was visiting over Christmas break :).

Okay, that was actually my first guess after reading Ben's Xanga but are you sure there isn't something else? I am not about to say what I think it could be, but just
a wondrin'... ;)

Congrats to Ben and Stephanie on their engagement! May their marriage bring glory to the Lord as they seek to serve Him together. :)

Thanks for sharing the joyful news, Susan!

Hooray for Ben and Stephanie!! Engagements are fun! :-)

Yeah, there is more news! I forgot to mention exciting news in my life as well. My hair is just 2 inches from reaching the golden section. I've been meaning to post on that. Hehe.

Um, and no, in case you were wondering, I'm not engaged ;-). If that's what you were thinking, it was a fun thought, though.

Miriam's mother commenting:

Golden section? First time I've heard that euphemism! Not surprising, though, coming from a lover of all things math...;) It inspired me to measure Miriam's hair length. She still has 4 inches to go. But she has reached that "benchmark" twice before in her short life, before she cut it all off and started over. Is this the first time you have grown your hair this long?

I enjoy your online ponderings and musings, Susan.

Congratulations on your hair! Only two more inches? That is so exciting! You let us know when it gets there. We can have a blog party to celebrate. I'll bring the sarcasm. You bring the wit. Lydia, you give us material to work off of. ; )Ashely and Jessie...can do whatever it is they do...and maybe Adrian can give us all something profound to think about. It will be a blast!

I forgot Miriam...hmmm...you can just offer congratulations. :-D

Doh!

I forgot Hannah. You can tranlate everything we say into French to make it interesting. : )

I'll bring the teasing. :-)

What IS it that I do?

Congratulations?!?
Don't you need some music to play in the background? :)

zan said...

"What IS it that I do?"

Don't you know?!

Sure, Miriam. We will need tunes. You can be the DJ. ;-)

I was actually more curious what other people thought is my contribution to the blogworld (or just to Susan's blog). :-)

How exciting!

This is hilarious! I laughed reading all the comments about a blog party :). What a fun idea! But wouldn't in-person be even better? Ah, it's fun to be back on Blogger a bit. December was a lonely month for my blog :(.

Ashley, hmm, what do you do? Well, you tease very well, certainly, and you just generally bring light-heartedness with you :). I'm not sure if I can see Miriam as a "DJ," per se. More like our pianist in residence :). That's more my type anyway! I loved your assigned "duties" for everyone, Zan :).

Thank you for the encouragement, Mrs. Hart! I'm glad you are blessed by my blog :).

Oh, and for anyone lost as to what a golden section is, it relates back to my favorite number: the golden number. The golden number is phi or "quantity 'one plus the square root of five' over two." It has all sorts of wondrous properties that point directly to a designer. The heavens declare the glory of God, and so does the golden number! You can look at goldennumber.net for all sorts of bizarre ways phi appears in nature. And click on the golden section portion to see what I mean by that. Essentially, when my hair grows 2 more inches, the quotient of my height and my hair length will be phi :-). Yes, I'm weird. But that means it will be the length most pleasing to the eye! How neat is that?

I figured out your role, Ashley! You get to design the promotional flyers for the party :). And Jessie and I are sewing table cloths, cloth napkins, and designing centerpieces. Oh, oh, Sherrin can bring her twin nephews for entertainment, Anna can bring her new niece, and Becky can bring Katherine :-D. And Jessica (#2?, hehe) can read us L.M. Montgomery! Hehe.

Hooray! A blog party! I'll happily babble some in French (and Spanish too) but mostly I'll just sit back and enjoy the spectacle like I typically do in the blog world... and real life. :-)
And I agree with Susan - an in-person blogger party would be even more fun.

Congratulations to Ben and Stephanie! I'd love to hear the story of how they met. I'm a sucker for "Boy meets girl" stories, because I have no clue how God is going to bring Mr. Right around!

Congradulations to your brother. I just found your blog and it seems really nice.

All right, I'm going to try!

"And now a little French! What a thought- a party of 'bloggers.' Everyone who comes brings what is particular to them- for example, Susan brings her spirit, Zan brings irony, etc. Everyone in the blogosphere (and putting a few ghosts to rest), which would please me no end. You have failed, ... (can't finish it).

Late comment (since they now changed the filter so I CAN access your blog again...YAY!)...but how exciting...about your brother and your hair! So...since I'm lazy and don't want to try to figure it out, what would be the length (in inches) of your hair when it reaches the golden number?

Ooooh! *raises hand*
I thought of something I could contribute to the online blog party! I could spill the beans...I mean bring the beans for the party.

I was thinking of a really great bean dip that I make sometimes for special occasions (This is a special occasion, of course, with Susan's hair reaching the golden number). It has two kinds of dip combined. One is made from Great Northern beans and the other is made from black beans. It is garnished with cheddar cheese and green onion on top. It looks really neat in a bowl with the two contrasting colors. Let me know if anyone is interested in this idea. :)

Does any one have other food they would like share?

zan said...

Sounds tasty, Lydia.

I'll bring the Tums/Maalox/Gasex.;-)

Oooo!!!! I LOVE beans! Yum! And please don't spill them, Lydia. ;-) I might just have to eat off the floor then.

And here's the translation, Lane:

A little in French :-) : We're thinking about a party - a party of 'bloggers'! Everyone is going to bring something unique, like for example, Susan's going to bring her wit, Zan her sarcasm, etc.
Everyone in the 'blog-o-sphere' has come back from a little break which makes me very happy! I've missed you all, Sister too evidently. (refering to a previous comment of hers)

Amusing translation, Lane. And very good, too! Although we're really wanting to know how the ghosts came in!

Mr. Baggins said...

Ghosts was either revenu or peu, I can't remember which. I have to confess that I used an internet translation service for some of the words this time.
