The Common Sense of Fecundity

(Alternate Title: We're trying to help save the planet, not destroy it, by seeking to have children early and often.)

Why overpopulation is not only a myth and clever lie, but the opposite of the real problem: ever heard of a demographic winter?

Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward.

Edit: Here's an interesting article on the film.

This reminds me of my parents: for their 35th anniversary, we put together a slideshow of pictures of them over the years, and it saw there family increase. =) It started by saying that my dad didn't want any children because he thought the world was overpopulated, and mom wanted at least one. In the end it had their picture with the words, "If JP though the world was overpopulated, how could he have had so many children?" then it showed the big family picture of all 7 children, 2 in-laws, and 7 grandchildren and said, "Oh, he found out that that was a myth..."

I've always said that a dozen children seems a nice even number. But, we'll see what God plans when the time comes! =)

Oh, agreed! I am the oldest/eldest of eight children, and I am probably still bitter about the way CHURCH people literally persecuted my parents, who were raising a godly brood, not on welfare, and active and involved in ministry. I simply don't understand it.

Admittedly, Zach and I were not "trying" to have a baby, and the pregnancy was a wee surprise, but it was not unwelcome-- we are very excited that God, in his sovereignty, chose to bless us now; we know that he knows best-- and we certainly don't seek pity from anyone.

Really, if we had wanted to avoid having children, it would have been best for us not to marry at all. Our baby is a very exciting product of our love for one another, and the union God has made of us. It is powerful and it is wonderful, and we are amazed at his goodness.

I agree wholeheartedly. Why would we want to miss out on His blessings?
